Now that we’re a full month into the new year, we’ve had a chance to settle in, set our goals, and research what’s taking place in the digital marketing landscape. As always, the only thing that stays consistent with digital marketing and social media is that things are always changing. Our team has been observing shifting trends over the last few weeks and we’re predicting some big changes in digital marketing.
Keep reading to find out what we think you’ll see in the digital world in
2023.
Ashley
Financial Officer + Account Manager
Ashley’s prediction is that people are going to get confused with virtual and reality as more things move toward being online.
Brooklyn
Digital Marketing Coordinator
Brooklyn is anticipating that TikTok will fall from popularity and be taken over by a platform like BeReal. She says, “people want to see the more authentic version of people.”
Cat
Digital Marketing Director
Cat sees a rise in user generated content (UGC) in 2023. The influencer world has changed, and with many influencers becoming millionaires, people are less trusting of their opinions. Instead, user generated content is “a way for people to share their opinions on a brand or product in a more authentic way.”
Erica
Digital Marketing Coordinator
Erica is thinking about digital e-commerce trends in
2023.
Shopping through social media platforms could become even bigger. After seeing the rollout of more shopping features on Instagram and Facebook, audiences are using social media more to source their content, including browsing brands, their services, and their products. “It’s only logical for the next step to be continuing to incorporate the shopping experience into a more seamless and user friendly experience.”
Jules
Digital Brand Director + Founder
Jules is predicting that 2023 will be all about video content continuing to come out on top. But maybe not in the way you expect. Her prediction is that YouTube will actually beat TikTok, especially when utilized by businesses.
She also predicts e-commerce will grow and more businesses will be investing in ad space to bring in more sales for retailers.
Lara
Digital Marketing Manager
Lara is predicting a rise in social as search in
2023. More and more people are using Instagram and TikTok to search for information and get answers to their questions. “You’ll notice people using Instagram more than Google to look up a restaurant or a new clothing brand.” With a strong emphasis on using keywords over hashtags, considering SEO in content and copywriting for social media will be more important than ever.
Nicole
Digital Marketing Coordinator
Like some of our other team members, Nicole’s predictions for the year focus on e-commerce and the digital shopping experience, but specifically on how we deal with customer service. She is anticipating the option of a customer service button across platforms. “There will be an option to chat with customer service live on the platform, or there will be more of a presence on social media to contact customer service through DMs.”
Madi
Director of Social Media + Founder
For Madi - I don’t know what she’s predicting, because she’s slacked off on this activity.
